Flow is continuing in Győr in 2019 as well, as the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra will surprise the audience with a special carnival concert. The press conference promoting the event was held at the venue of the concert, in the Aqua Sports Centre.
Győr mayor Zsolt Borkai said the event will be a unique experience and opportunity where sports and culture will support each other. A brave enterprise of Géza Fűke, director of the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra and Iván Petrov, head coach of the Győr Swimming Association, to organize a concert in the swimming pool. Besides the music, sports will also be present, as the Slovakian National Synchronous Swimming team will perform during the evening, the mayor added.
Géza Fűke says the acoustics of the building is fantastic. The orchestra will sit on a 140 sqm stage above the pool. The tribune can host about a thousand spectators, and mobile units can be added if necessary. Concerning the program, the director said that it will be full of fun and humour, well-known melodies, and will also include music related to water, like parts of the soundtrack of the Pirates of the Caribbean, Water music by Handel, or Smetana’s Moldau. The concert will be conducted by Kálmán Berkes, the two presenters will be Ádám Bősze and Jenő Knézy Jr.
Iván Petrov called the attention that there is a strong connection between musicians and swimmers, as their performance or competition is always preceded by a long and tiresome preparation, but everybody does their best, the leading coach said.
The Carnival Concert will take place in the Aqua Sports Centre on January 24. This time not only the annual ticket holders of the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, but annual ticket holders of the swimming pool can buy tickets for the concert on discount.
